What the word architectural is doing here
It is a fair question what the word adds. Outlining a building traces its edges. Architectural lighting responds to the structure. One treats the house as a shape. The other reads the gables, the columns, the entry and the stone.None of that requires an architect or a vocabulary test. It does mean asking one question: does the plan have reasons in it. If the answer describes your building, there is a design behind it. If it is about the hardware, you are being sold a package.
Which features are worth lighting
Every building gives you something to work with. A front gable. A pair of columns. A dormer line. A stone or brick face. A deep porch. A good plan picks two or three and commits, rather than treating every foot of edge as equal.
Why even light is the wrong goal
Most people assume more coverage is better. It is backwards. Depth needs shadow, and the dark sections carry as much of the design as the bright ones. Even coverage removes the depth, which is the opposite of what anybody wanted.A building lit this way reads as considered rather than decorated, and most people notice it without being able to name why.

Residential work is mostly about the front elevation and the walk in. On a commercial building, there is a business reason attached: it needs to be found, and it needs to read as in business. Company colors on a building are readable at distances a sign is not.

Color temperature is a design choice
White is not one color, and buildings react to it differently. Warm reads comfortable, and it makes earth toned materials look right. Cooler suits glass and grey, and it is easy to overshoot. Mixing them on one building is what looks wrong.
